Telephones

Basic Functions

All rooms within the building are equipped with telephones. These telephones are to be used for official school use only, personal use is prohibited.

Placing a call to a speed dial contact

To place a call to the school secretary or nurse, you can use the speed dial feature:

1. Pick up the phone and press the designated speed-dial contact.

Placing a call to another phone within the building

To place a call to another phone within the high school, take the following steps:

1. Pick up the phone and press the “Intercom” button.

2. Dial the four-digit extension that you would like to call.

Placing a call to a phone outside the building

To place a call to an outside location, take the following steps:

1. Pick up the phone

2. Press the button labeled “Outgoing Call.”

3. Dial the number that you wish to call.

Please note: Outside calls are only to be made for official school use.

Answering a call

If the light is blinking orange, simply lift the handset to begin the conversation.

If a call has been placed on Park for you, locate the button that corresponds to the flashing red light, lift the handset, and press that button to begin your conversation.

A note about your phone – For an incoming call, the phone will ring 6 times and then will go to voicemail.

Placing a call on hold

To put the current call on hold, press the “Hold” button to place the current call on hold. To retrieve the call, press the red flashing intercom button.

Call waiting

This feature puts the current call on hold so you can answer another incoming call. When you are on a call and hear another call coming in press “Hold” to place the current call on hold. The waiting call will ring at your phone. Press the second intercom button to answer the second call.

Transferring Calls

While the call is active, press the “TRNS/CONF” button, then enter the destination number. Hang up before the destination extension answers to complete the transfer.

Voice Mail Alert

The message button light will be blinking red. The display screen will show the number of voicemails on the extension.

Setting Up Your Voice Mailbox

From the school:

1. Press the button at the top of the phone labeled “VMAIL” (the label is in the display panel at the top of the phone).

2. You will hear, “Please enter your password,” after which you will enter the password that has been provided to you.

3. Then press 3 for the options menu

a. To record your name, press 1.

b. To record your greeting, press 2.

c. To change your password, press 3.

 

From your home or cell phone:

1. Dial (724) 667-7782.

2. When you hear the recording begin, press #.

3. You will hear, “Please enter your mailbox number,” after which you will enter your mailbox number.

4. You will then hear, “Please enter your password,” after which you will enter your password.

5. A tutorial will automatically start.

6. After the tutorial, press 3 for the options menu.

a. To record your name, press 1.

b. To record your greeting, press 2.

c. To change your password, press 3.

PLEASE NOTE: To change your voicemail password, please follow the above instructions, noting to press 3 in the options menu. This is where you can change your voicemail password to a new one that you enter.

Checking Voicemail

From the school:

1. Press the button at the top of the phone labeled “VMAIL” (the label is in the display panel at the top of the phone).

2. You will hear, “Please enter your password,” after which you will enter your password.

3. To hear new voicemail messages that you have not listened to yet, press 1, or to hear saved voicemail messages, press 2.

4. Once you have listened to your message, you can:
Press 1 to replay the message.
Press 2 to save the message.
Press 3 to save the message as new.
Press 4 to delete the message.
Press 6 for more options.

From your home or cell phone:

1. Dial (724) 667-7782.

2. When you hear the recording begin, press #.

3. You will hear, “Please enter your mailbox number,” after which you will enter your mailbox number.

4. You will then hear, “Please enter your password,” after which you will enter your password.

5. Your messages will begin playing, with the newest message being the first (the above commands for the voicemail system will work when checking your voicemail from outside the building).
