Mr. Larry Carr

Born and raised in the Mt. Jackson area, Larry is a 1974 graduate of Mohawk High School where he excelled in 3 sports and earned 11 Varsity Letters including All Section, All WPIAL and All State Honors. He graduated from Indiana University of Pa. in 1978 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education and earned NCAA All American honors in Track and Field. In 2003 had the honor of being inducted into the Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame.

Mr. Carr is employed by the Mohawk Area School District and is in his 25th year as an Elementary Physical Education and Wellness teacher.

He has been active in school affairs such as; Head of the after school Intramural Program, chairing the Discipline Committee, a member of the Instructional Support Team, and Department Head for the Special Teachers group. In 1998 Larry was named Mohawk Educator of The Year by the Bessemer Rotary. In 2012 Larry was inducted into the Mohawk Distinguished Alumni Hall Of Fame. He is also on the Board of the Mohawk Community Education Foundation. His current interests are: Curriculum Development, Character Education, PE for Life, Action Based Learning and Brain Gym.

Larry and his wife Denise, who is also employed at Mohawk as a Special Education Paraprofessional. They reside in a custom log house Larry built himself by cutting down the trees and scribing each log one at a time. This house was definitely a 4 year labor of love for his family. They have 2 active children Mariah 21 who graduated from Mohawk in 2011 and Samantha 17 who is a junior and attends Mohawk.
